During a global pandemic, it is our responsibility to look after each other more than ever.

On Wednesday 21st October, 322 MPs, including Darlington’s, voted against a motion that would guarantee children in need received a meal every day during the school holidays.

3,457 children in Darlington could go hungry in the holidays without free school meals. If the government will not feed our hungry children, we believe Darlington Borough Council should step up.

That is why, we are calling on Darlington Borough Council to follow suit of multiple local authorities across the country and ensure that the children of Darlington are fed over the holidays by providing meal vouchers for children who would usually have access to free school meals.

Food is not a luxury, it is a human right.
